1
Safety and Compliance

Employers are required by law to provide written instructions in the workplace and to take all necessary measures to protect workers as per the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).

2
Attrition/Succession Planning

SOPs play a crucial role in capturing workplace knowledge as employees retire and/or pursue new opportunities.

3
Continuous Improvement

SOPs need to be updated regularly to reflect updated regulations and best practices.

4
Onboarding and Training

SOPs are an excellent resource for onboarding new employees and retraining current staff.

5
Accountability

As a component of risk management, SOPs can establish clear roles and responsibilities for each employee in the process for all jobs.

6
Consistency

Having current SOPs in place ensures that tasks are completed consistently throughout the organization.

7
Workplace Efficiency

Clear and concise SOPs will streamline work tasks, save time and resources, and guide workers to complete tasks within an established framework.
